New Year’s Day will kick off the 2016 Chequamegon MTB Festival’s online registration process. The 34th running of the event will be held over the September 17 weekend with registration opening on Friday, January 1, 2016. The race spots for the weekend’s main cross country events are limited to a total of 3,100 riders. Split between 2,100 participants in the Chequamegon 40 and 1,000 in the Short & Fat, the event sells out every year.
NEW FOR 2016! The limited enrollment will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. This is a change from the past year’s random registration lottery system. Online applications will be taken from the launch date on January 1, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. CST and remain open until the 3,100 race spots are filled. The entry fee will be billed at the time of registration as long as race spots remain available. Five dollars of the 2016 entry fee will be forwarded in various amounts to the Chequamegon Area Mountain Bike Association, the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation and the International Mountain Bike Association to support their local trail advocacy.
