CHEQ CHALLENGE 37.5

What is it?
It’s not a race, but it IS a chance to enjoy the trails, sights and sounds of the Wisconsin Northwoods. Register to ride the Cheq Challenge 37.5 (either 40 or Short and Fat courses) between September 4th and September 20th

What do I get?
Sign up and receive:

  • Custom Cheq Mtb Festival Silipint ½ pint
  • Custom Cheq Mtb Festival sticker OR patch
  • Your voluntary donation will go 50% to CAMBA and 50% to Life Time Foundation
  • LIMITED – First 250 to sign up will get a custom neck gator

What do I do?

  • Download the Strava App
  • Charge up your phone or other tracking device.
  • Head out alone, or with your pod of peeps.
  • Start – look for the start sign at Rosie’s Field/Birkie Start – hit record and go.
  • After you finish, head to the Chequamegon Mountain Bike Festival Office (see hours) and gather your swag at our outdoor, socially distant tent – wear your masks please, safety is a priority for you and our staff!

No shuttle – There is no shuttle, so make sure if you are opting to ride the 40 course, you have arranged a return plan.

The course will be marked and ready on 9/4, but beware that signs can be changed by animals, humans and weather!

Note:
Due to construction – there will be some revisions to the course:
Cheq 40 will finish at the Cable office.
Short & Fat will start and finish in Cable.

Here’s what we’ll do:

  • Create the segments on Strava
    • Cheq 40 – Strava Segment  GPX – coming soon!
    • Short & Fat – Strava Segment GPX – coming soon!
  • Mark the course
  • Verify your ride
  • Swag available for pick-up at the Chequamegon office – outside under a tent
    • Office address:  13460 Spruce Street, Cable, WI 54821
    • Office hours:  *new hours* 12pm – 5pm Friday-Saturday, 10am – 3pm on Sunday
    • Swag:  Cheq Mtb Festival Silipint ½ pint, a Cheq Mtb Festival sticker or patch.  Your voluntary donation will be split 50/50 to CAMBA and the Life Time Foundation.

    • Refresh: Beer / Pop / water will be available post ride
  • Register:   
  • Set up/Log in:  create or use your STRAVA profile (free versions available) and be familiar with how to use it.
  • Ride the segment accurately and in the permissible timeframe (from Friday, September 4 – Sunday, September 20) (NO NIGHT RIDING)
  • Obey the rules – Be super cool to other users,  give way to ATV and Vehicles as roads and trails are open to all traffic

STRAVA INFO

All racers will need a STRAVA user profile. There is a free version.
There are two ways to use Strava:
1.  Download the App to your phone.

  • Make sure GPS is enabled
  • Phone is charged
  • Make sure Battery Saving mode is OFF
  • Hit Record…and then hit Start
  • Ride well past the last Finish Segment sign before you hit “Stop”>”Finish”>”Save” (this terminology is Strava-specific. We recognize that those riding with GPS head units have different steps and lingo)
  • Strava will recognize the portion of your ride that matches our Strava Segments/courses

2. Use a GPS unit from a company such as Garmin, Suunto, Polar.

  • Ride the course.
  • Upload to Strava after your ride
  • Strava will match your Ride to our segments/courses
